Versi Indonesia klik di siniGoing on a tour overseas, especially Asia Pacific region, has become very much a business-as-usual thing for Indonesian musicians. Not only for big name bands, but also independent acts like this electronica group from Bandung called Bottlesmoker. Angkuy and Nobie began their career in 2005, and will start their journey on February 26, finishing up on March 16. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is going to be the first stop, and then continuing to Gadong, Kuala Belait & Bandar Seri Bagawan (Brunei Darussalam), Shanghai & Beijing (China), Wan Chai (Hongkong), with the last gig in Medan. Actually, this is the fourth tour outside of Indonesia for Bottlesmoker. On the first one they performed in Malaysia in 2009, and then the Philippines in 2010, Malaysia again in 2010, and this year to several countries for their biggest tour ever. Stay informed about the tour by regularly visiting http://bottlesmoker.tumblr.com and listen to their unique bedroom music songs via http://www.myspace.com/bottlesmoker
Back by popular demand, the JFCC Charity Jam will be held in less than three weeks! That's right, what better way to spend a Saturday night than listening to some of the best indie rock in the country while at the same time raising money for a good cause? This year, the line-up features three acts---KOIL, Efek Rumah Kaca and Sajama Cut---at a sweet, new location in central Jakarta - the Akmani Hotel on Jalan Wahid Hasyim, in Menteng. On the first floor of the hotel is an airy, outdoor/indoor terrace called the Terrazo Bianco, which we will have to ourselves starting at 8 PM on Saturday, March 12. An adjacent lounge will also be available for those who want to chill and have drinks, though tickets are needed for both.
Versi Bahasa Indonesia silakan klik di siniIn celebration of the Hard Rock brand's 40th anniversary, Hard Rock is launching its first global Hard Rock Battle of the Bands, giving the rock stars of tomorrow the opportunity of a lifetime. Hard Rock Cafe Jakarta and Bali is on the hunt for the area's best talent to perform in the first round of the battle, where bands will compete live and be evaluated by a panel of local celebrity judges, music industry icons and area music professionals. Regional winners will be given a spot on the bill at Hard Rock Calling 2011, June 2426 in London's Hyde Park. To join the competition bands must play original music, must be at least 18 years of age and must have 2 to 5 members. Bands may only participate and submit their entry at one of Hard Rock Cafe location, either Jakarta or Bali. For further details visit www.hardrockbattleofthebands.com
Versi Bahasa Indonesia silakan klik di siniIn the context of international entertainment, last year brought a lot of hope to Jakarta. So many overseas musicians were involved (Java Jazz 2010 itself brought 430 musicians alone). The calibre of the festivals became much bigger (Java Rockin'Land was considered to be the largest rock event in South East Asia). More and more world famous bands came and played (311, Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, to name a few). How about 2011? It gets even more huge. The early of this new year N.E.R.D. will play in Istora Senayan. A bit after that Ne-Yo also perform at the same venue. In February there'll be Deftones, Iron Maiden and New Found Glory. In March Stone Temple Pilots. In April Jimmy Eat World & Maroon 5. From this list the general public can be optimistic that the music show in Indonesia will be even more dynamic. We won't be too surprised if Jakarta or Indonesia could reach at least "Asia's Rock Mecca" status in 2011...
