PAUL DANIEL FREHLEY AUDITIONED FOR WICKED LESTER

Today, Jan 03, 46 years ago, Paul Daniel Frehley auditioned for Wicked Lester. He spotted an advertisement for a lead guitarist in The Village Voice magazine. Frehley auditioned for Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Peter Criss. Even though they weren’t very impressed with Frehley’s fashion taste—he wore one red and one orange sneaker—they liked what they heard from his playing.

About three weeks later, the band named Frehley as their lead guitarist. A year later, by January 1973, the band came up with the name Kiss. While Paul Daniel changed his identity and used his nickname when he was a teenager: Ace.

Two videos above, “Parasite” and “Cold Gin”, are some of my most favourite songs from Kiss. Both written by Ace Frehley.
